Lonely Dell
Last week we went on a camping trip to Lee's Ferry. Fishing and Camping on the Colorado was so fun and relaxing. More importantly though, was the special experience we had learning about pioneers such as John D. Lee and his wife Emma. Together they farmed the area and ran the ferry crossing for pioneers and explorers. We were able to see the houses, visit the graveyard and read the histories of these amazing people. Emma named the farm Lonely Dell because of the remoteness and solitude there. She was left to run the place by herself the majority of the time, and even delivered her own baby with no one to assist her. Since then, I have been so extremely grateful all the blessings I have, and I often say to myself, "At least I don't live at Lonely Dell".
